El Maguey is a nice little local Mexican joint to grab a refreshing margarita, some good queso, and a few tacos. The salsa is very good! I prefer the spicy! The chips are cooked to perfection. The tacos are delicious, whether you choose authentic or gringo. The staff is friendly and inviting. They moved from a little spot down the road to an old VFW.
First time in Michigan and we wanted to get food after checking in to the hotel. This restaurant was only a few minutes drive up the road so we decided to go here. It was pretty busy when we arrived (Thurs around 6:30ish) The food was good and the service was too.
Have to say, outstanding Mexican restaurant. Mom, dad and son cooking in the kitchen with other siblings taking care of the customers. I usually hesitate ordering chicken at some Mexican restaurants because it tends to be dry. Not here. Outstanding juicy chicken enchiladas in green enchilada sauce. Great specials. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the area. I am a loyal patron for years to come.
FYI: This review is for Salsa and chips only, to go. I wanted to try them before getting a meal. Chips are on point, aka, fresh and not greasy. I got mild salsa and "Mark Sauce" next up from mild. Mild is def very mild. Mark Sauce has some good heat to me (some may consider it mild, I don't consider my heat scale weak, but not the most intense seeker), also a flavor I can't describe, but unique and very good. Aside from heat, both have very good flavors of their own. Looking forward to trying their food! OH and service was great in my short interaction! Good job to the team overall. See you soon!!
